OUR HISTORY

The Leadership Centre began in response to one Arizona citizen's need for assistance for her neighborhood home owner's association. Raised awareness of the need for direct assistance to neighborhoods, HOAs and community associations led to a collaboration between the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension Family Community Leadership program, Chandler-Gilbert Community College, the Community Associations Institute and the Town of Gilbert. A board of directors was formed and the first class, ABC's of Homeowner Associations, followed in March 1996.

EDUCATION. The Leadership Centre offers a large variety of Community Leadership Classes and Mediation Training and Workshops throughout the year. Community Leadership Classes address those subject areas most requested by our local residents, home owners associations, developers and management companies. Mediation Training and Workshops are designed to help participants learn conflict resolution skills that will aid them in their daily interactions and increase their leadership capacity in their communities.

MEDIATION.  In addition to educational opportunities, The Leadership Centre also offers Solve-It! Community Mediation Service, a program that promotes awareness of productive problem-solving by providing facilitation and mediation services at the community level. Driven by volunteerism and based upon the principles of effective communication, Solve-It! works in partnership with community organizations, municipal services, schools and the East Valley Justice Court system to promote self-determination and accountability in the conflict resolution process.

EVENTS. The Leadership Centre hosts several highly popular annual community events, designed to bring residents and professionals together to explore how to positively impact our neighborhoods.
